March

'Marching On, On, On':)  We continue to take a day at a time, and know God's grace is sufficient!
March was nothing abnormal...visitors, surprises, school functions, church activities, and family times.

Let me tell you about a few.....

As you can see, Mr. Brent is pleased to have caught a mouse.  This mouse (well, we hope it was this one) made its rounds through the girls house and all the school rooms.  You could usually tell where it was when the screams and shrieks would break out. Mr. Brent and Mr. Mapson are the heroes and the 6th graders are the scared cheer leaders:) I had to keep telling them to get closer to Mr. Brent so I could get them on the picture.

Sports day is a big school event.  It includes students from both Limes and Laborie schools.  There are 3 colors (red, yellow, & green) to represent the 3 'houses' competing against each other.  Red house has won all 3 years we've been here.  Caleb is receiving a 2nd place medal here.

 Nicki came first!

This is called the '3 legged race'.

 Pastor Scott encouraging someone.

Many parents come to cheer for their children.  It's a fun day, but it's a LONG, tiring day!

Conrad received a medal for coming 2nd place on the cross country, 1 mile, run.
We called this weekend, "Church Retreat".   It was just that.  Our whole church went to a retreat building for a Saturday and Sunday.  We relaxed, played games, ate good food, enjoyed watching the 'Love & Respect' DVD's, and had some good connecting time.    This was an exciting game of marbles.

Mr. Brent & Mr. Weaver led us in some beautiful music.

And this is the entire church family.  We are so blessed!!!!!
Marvin is a volunteer Chaplain at the Hospital in St. Georges.  He visits there every Thursday and has enjoyed it a lot.  This man, Dunber, fell about 3 years ago and is basically paralyzed from his neck down, although he's gained more movement since "Physical Therapist" Marvin has been working with him.  Their birthdays are a day apart so Marvin wanted to celebrate together somehow.  Mr. Brent's dad, Lanell, Danny, and Marvin picked him up in the morning and took him on a drive, touring through his neighborhood and other places Dunber wanted to see and hasn't seen for 3 years.  They stopped at KFC for lunch and then at our house for cake and ice cream.  Dunber thinks he'll get to go to the beach next:)
A picnic supper with Mr. Brent's family and the rest of the single staff.

 Celebrating Marvin's birthday.

Boys will be boys.  Jade found this iguana and the poor thing was suffering from being handled (possibly dropped a couple of times) so much.
Nicki participated in a National "Spelling Bee" competition between 4th and 5th graders from about 35 schools.  She qualified for the finals but didn't make it to the finish.  She did very good and was happy with the prizes she received.

Jared and Leann (Lauver) Mast came for a week visit.  She made Nicki and Melanie look-alike dresses which they wore to church.  Thanks, Leann, for this sweet gift!

Leann stays in contact with Elizabeth and is a big encouragement to her as she raises her 4 children.

Marvin has found another hobby....sewing shoes back together.  It's pretty neat when we thought we were running out of shoes for some of our children, and now we have plenty again.
As we always say, "Airports are happy and sad places".  We said 'good bye' to our dear  'Cow' friends, Jared and Leann:)
Marvin's love for books is contagious.  Yippeeee!

I'm so thankful that the children enjoy cleaning out the deep freeze.  They scrape the ice off the sides and make 'snow cream' or just eat it plain.

It is kite season!

Some more visitors....and good friends, Weldon and Anna Headings.  We spent an evening at this park and had a lovely time.  Four Grenadian girls came and finished eating the popcorn.

And now, a story that clearly showed us, again, that God cares.  Months ago, maybe 5 or 6, Marvin found one of these slippers out in front of the church.  It fit him!  It didn't just fit him, it fit him really good!  He hung it on the fence for a couple of day to see if anyone would come claim their other slipper.  Random items like this appear all the time. He brought the slipper to the house and it stayed with the other collection of shoes. About 2 weeks ago, I was going through our shoes again and getting rid of the ones that needed to be pitched.  I asked Marvin about this slipper and we debated what to do.  "When nothing gets decided, nothing gets done".  About 2 or 3 days after this debating, Marvin and Conrad walked to a store about 10 min. away.  Conrad said, "Hey dad, look at that slipper"!  Of course, it caught Marvin's eye and he picked it up.  It had the same Nike symbol but was about 1/2 size bigger......which confirmed in his mind that it was from a different person than the 1st slipper.  The other amazing thing is that it was the left slipper that went with the right slipper we already had for 6 months. Marvin is enjoying his comfortable slippers.   This just makes us smile!  God is bigger than anything!
